Weather:
Low of 6Deg high of 14deg
Head:
Balaclava with cycling cap. Ended up removing the cap because of too much sweat.
Torso:
Wicking short sleeve shirt
Hydo system with hose through sleeves.
Vapor barrier
Soft shell jacket.
Legs:
Cycling shorts, wool tights, craft pants.
Hands:
Cobra fist pogies and no gloves for a lot of the ride. Added thin wool gloves at some points. When not using gloves, kept them in the pogies to dry and keep warm. Also kept food and GoPro in pogies.
Feet:
Base swift sock, vapor barrier, Wigwam thick wool sock. End of the ride the wind picked up and I had to add chemical warmers. Sorel -40deg boots.
Dress worked well for temps I rode in.
Filled water and ate soup and grilled cheese at checkpoints. On the bike I had Larabars, granola bars, and biscuits with butter. I had chocolate covered espresso beans and Hershey chocolate bars for a treat and caffeine. I feel I did a fine job keeping fed and hydrated.
On the bike I ensured I had spare gloves, balaclava, long sleeve wool shirt, short sleeve wicking shirt, and spare socks along with mandatory gear.
