Another rider and I decided at the 2nd to last control of the 400k loop to wait on a fellow rider that had a pretty bad wreck early on, but was battling through everything and doing quite well.  We ended up waiting at the control for around 2hours.  I did take a nap because I knew after the 400k was finish (usual sleep time) we would not get much sleep, which proved to be the case, we got about 1/2hour of sleep after the 400k loop.  Everyone finished though, which is what randos love seeing.

 The bike set up.

I was the only finisher of the 400k, though out of time...   My 2nd rando non-credit, but, at least I did finish.  The heat drained me during the day, and at night I could no longer stay awake, so I took a couple 40 plus minute naps on the side of the road.  I got to the last control about an hour out of time, and I knew I didn't have enough to make it to the finish in time, so I soft pedaled and enjoyed the views of Michigan's beautiful scenery on the last leg.  As I look back on my brevet card and the times, NOW I wonder if I tried to push a little, if I would've made it, but, I'm satisfied with how I performed.  Tough ride!

Stealth camping the night before the start.  Hot! Probably didn't sleep too well, which may have added to my inability to remain awake through the night....
